In Mainland China, however, while the Chinese Communist Party government is releasing a few prisoners of conscience, it continues to imprison and detain prisoners of conscience. These are violations against the most fundamental principles of international human rights treaties. Because of this, I feel morally obligated to continue following the deteriorating human rights situation that persists in Mainland China Out of the two lists of names I am presenting to you, I especially emphasize the importance of the list containing the names of prisoners of conscience who have been arrested and detained by the Chinese Communist Party.
